A note from Bob MacLeod and Steve Byckiewicz, founders of Kiss My Face
We founded Kiss My Face on a 200 acre farm in New York’s beautiful Hudson River Valley. As two long time vegetarians searching for healthy body care products, it became our mission to find the best ingredients nature has to offer and combine them with the latest breakthroughs in skin science to create natural and organic formulations that really work. Our company’s heritage is based on the creation of environmentally sound, natural products at a time when such offerings were considered unappealing and ineffective. We have worked hard from the beginning, challenging the way things are done to find healthier, safer, and effective alternatives. We continue our company’s tradition of unconventional social change by partnering with Seeds of Peace to introduce Peace Soap.
Seeds of Peace is an organization that pioneers programs and ideals dedicated to challenging widely accepted perceptions and taught to children in countries of conflict. We both believe that by questioning the established way of thinking and spearheading a new movement, change will come… and a new, better way will become the norm.
Founded in 1993 by journalist John Wallach, Seeds of Peace is dedicated to empowering young leaders from regions of conflict with the leadership skills required to advance reconciliation and coexistence.
Over the last 17 years, Seeds of Peace has intensified its impact, dramatically increasing the number of participants, represented nations and programs.
From 46 Israeli, Palestinian and Egyptian teenagers in 1993, the organization has expanded its programming to include young leaders from South Asia, Cyprus and the Balkans. Its leadership network now encompasses over 4,000 young people.
Seeds of Peace’s internationally-recognized program model begins at its summer Camp in Maine and continues through programming in regions around the world with innovative initiatives in the form of conferences, regional workshops, educational and professional opportunities, and an adult educators program.
This comprehensive system allows participants to develop empathy, respect, and confidence as well as leadership, communication and negotiation skills—all critical components that will facilitate peaceful coexistence for the next generation.
Due to its proven impact and success in the Middle East, Seeds of Peace has earned international recognition as an effective model for resolving conflict worldwide.
The US State Department recognized this, and in 2001, with its support, Seeds of Peace launched its South Asia program with Indian and Pakistani youth. One year later, Seeds of Peace expanded by welcoming an Afghan delegation to the Camp in Maine.
Seeds of Peace also runs a domestic program for young leaders from Maine to address ethnic and racial tensions between the diverse communities that have settled in the Camp’s home state.
